SGT. RECKLESS, FOLLOW UP HONORS

Standard

Korean War hero, Sgt. Reckless was honored Wednesday, October 26th at Camp Pendleton in California, for her service.  A bronze statue commemorated her dedication and bravery, similar to that erected in her likeness in Quantico, VA in 2013.  The statue’s unveiling was attended by Korean War veterans who’d served with her.

A WHOLE NEW ARENA

Standard

A few posts ago, I shared the AAQHC’s announcement of their two new classes, Heroes on Horses.  One as a supported walk-trot, the other as an independent walk-trot class.  They’ll be small in numbers, but big in support, and you can help.  Here’s a clip from the OQHA to introduce their new additions:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7196YQKwYEg

The classes are scheduled to run tomorrow around 3pm at the Celeste Center.  If you’re at the show already, take a time out to come and watch.  If you can’t be there but would like to see, Congress offers live streaming of all their classes, you can find the link here:  http://www.iequine.com/events/2016/10/the-all-american-quarter-horse-congress  Not only can you observe from anywhere, but consider the impact of currently-serving military, being able to watch their loved ones compete from anywhere in the world.

To all wounded warriors competing tomorrow, thank you for your service, and it’s an honor to support you!

SEA HORSES

Standard

Today marks the opening of the All American Quarter Horse Congress.  As the name suggests, Columbus, Ohio will welcome horses and riders from all over the country.

Hurricane Matthew is settling in over Florida as we speak, wreaking havoc there, and in a significant portion of the Eastern seaboard.  With that in mind, I worry about our extended horse family.  Some trying to make their way north, to show at Congress, and others simply trying to keep their farms and families safe.

To you, our Southern horse family, I offer hope and prayers for safe stables, dry earth beneath your hooves and boots, and the emotional endurance to ride the storm out.  May God protect and keep you until the sun shines again.
